Since Thursday evening Leftists have been falling over themselves telling the rest of us how Joe Biden’s COVID anniversary press appearance “moved them to tears.” I am not completely sure who they are trying to convince: us or themselves.
The fact is the bizarre and downbeat speech was full of falsities and confusion. However, the most frightening part about it was his claim that even with the mitigating vaccine the government, if it so chooses, can lock all of us up all over again. He gave us the depressing message that after a miserable year the vaccine probably won’t make things any better. I walked away from the speech wondering, if that is true, why are we bothering with the vaccine at all. But, there is where the falsity is.
Biden failed to acknowledge that nearly 20 states have already removed all or most restrictions and mask mandates. Instead, we were told that despite a great many Americans being vaccinated by July 4th “MAYBE we can gather with small groups outdoors.” To quote the president:
“we will issue further guidance on what you can and cannot do once fully vaccinated to lessen the confusion, to keep people safe, and encourage more people to get vaccinated.”
In other words, rather than the vaccine freeing us, it will bring even more tight government control with the government mandating what we can and cannot do. Despite being vaccinated, not much will change.
Because Mr. Biden likes to dwell in the basement he seems to not know that we are gathering already, and in many states sports stadiums will be packed by Memorial Day. As I said above, nearly half of the states are done with government mandates.
President Biden even opened his speech with a lie. Not once did he acknowledge the fact that without the previous administration he wouldn’t have a vaccine to falsely take credit for. He opened the speech by saying:
“A year ago, we were hit with a virus that was met with silence and spread unchecked – denials for days, weeks, then months.”
Had he told the truth he would have acknowledged that on January 31 Trump stopped travel from China while Mr. Biden, and other Democrats, attacked him as being “xenophobic.” And he would have had to acknowledge that by March Trump had the private sector producing masks, ventilators, pop-up hospitals, and vaccines.
If all of that wasn’t bad enough he repeated on how his administration had acted with regard to producing and distributing vaccines. Of course, by the time he assumed office the wiring was already in place to ramp up distribution.
Of course he had to slip in a bit of social justice by talking about how Asian Americans were being attacked. While this is true it isn’t “white supremacists” doing the attacking as he implied, but members of his own ideological tribe.
Throughout his speech he kept repeating “I will tell you the truth.” It is my experience that if a person has to keep saying “I will tell you the truth” odds are good they are lying.
